Introduction Aortic stenosis (AS) is a significant health problem, particularly in older individuals, most common valve disease necessitating surgical or percutaneous intervention. Echocardiography central diagnosis, management assessment progression AS patients. severity grading based on 3 parameters: aortic area by continuity equation (AVA), mean gradient (MG), peak velocity (Vmax). Although AVA relevant low situations, its calculation more complex therefore may show greater technical variability. Knowing differences between parameters to assess be useful clinical practice. Purpose Assess main quantitative detect patients with AS. Methods We retrospectively analyzed cohort 130 diagnosis isolated (without other disease) 2 echocardiograms performed at an interval than 1 year, which calculated using was measured. The annual rate change AVA, MG, Vmax, proportion predefined criteria (AVA decrease >0.2 cm2, MG increase > 10 mmHg, Vmax 30 cm/s) were analyzed. Results 26 (9) months. Globally, small for parameters, higher considering (49.2%), lower (28.5%), being intermediate (36.1%) (Table). Of 47 criteria, observed 32 (68%), only 19 (40%) criteria. Conclusions criterion considered practice guidelines, many it not associated changes MG. Discrepancies across different frequent lead inconsistent decision making.

Background: There has been considerable development in the clinometric of stroke. But, researcher is concerned that some scales are too generic, inherently and the insight may not be provided. The current study was conducted to determine which scale or scales should be used in stroke survivors. Methods: We selected 67 studies which published between January 2010 and December 2018 from Up to d...

Predictors of Echocardiographic Progression in Patients With Mild Aortic Stenosis

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The factors related to the progression of mild aortic stenosis (AS) remain unknown. We wanted to evaluate the long-term outcomes and predictors of echocardiographic progression in patients with mild AS. SUBJECTS AND METHODS We prospectively included 103 consecutive asymptomatic patients (62.1±11.9 years, 31 males) with mild AS. Mild AS was defined as aortic valve (AV...

[Which cardiovascular risk tables should we use?].

Predicting someone’s chances of experiencing a cardiovascular event is a medical challenge that has yet to be resolved.1 Large-scale epidemiologic observation studies enable us to identify variables associated with greater probability of presenting cardiovascular disease. The INTERHEART study has recently corroborated these, comparing the circumstances that differentiated patients with myocardi...

Which Cubic Spline should One Use?

The aim of this paper is to provide a quantitative comparison of eight different 0 1 and 0 2 cubic spline interpolation schemes. The 0 1 schemes discussed are local while the 0 2 ones are global. In practice cubic splines are often used when the smoothness of the function being interpolated/approximated is unknown. Also it is often necessary, or advantageous, to use a nonuniform mesh. Therefore...

Supravalvular aortic stenosis. Echocardiographic features.

The echocardiographic manifestations of segmental supravalvular aortic stenosis are described in 2 patients. The diagnosis was confirmed by cardiac catheterization in both and at operation in 1. A systematic echocardiographic approach to such patients is described. The characteristic finding in these patients was the narrowing of the diameter of the aortic lumen at the stenotic area just distal...
